Outdoors: Dale Hollow National Fish Hatchery, Celina

Happy Thursday Y’all!

This week, we took the boys to Dale Hollow to the USFWS Dale Hollow National Fish Hatchery to see where the majority of trout released in #tennessee are hatched and grown.

It was so cool to see the entire lifecycle from eggs to MONSTER rainbows that are kept in the 40 acres worth of raceways.  In all our travels, we have only found one place with staff as exceptional as the US Fish and Wildlife staff.  They were kind, informative and were more than willing to scrounge up a bucket of fish feed for the boys.

While not the only one in America, this hatchery plays an integral role in returning trout to the South that had their natural habitat destroyed by dam construction.  I can honestly say that I haven’t spent a ton of time in Celina, TN but we will be back.  It’s only two hours from the Chattanooga.

This is good government in action. The entire Dale Hollow Dam complex is controlled by the Army Corps of Engineers and the US Interior leases part of that spot under USFWS for the hatchery.

Y’all go be Tennesseans this week and see what your great state has to offer! We are at 7 counties and 4 Tennessee State Parks since Monday…….
