Outdoors: Savage Gulf State Park, Palmer
In anticipation of this weekend’s jaunts around Tennessee, check out our visit to Savage Falls last week in Savage Gulf State Park that was carved out of the famous South Cumberland State Park to create one of the most scenic spots in our great state.
Even my wife gave this one her ultimate seal of approval. The trail is relatively flat and very well maintained (like the rest of our wonderful Tennessee State Parks) and short of the boys swinging too much on the cable bridges, it was an easy and enjoyable hike and only an hour from the Chattanooga.
The entire out and back was a bit over 3 miles and we were able to get through it with a 20 minute stop at Savage Falls in about 75 mins which is pretty good for a 7 and a 5 year old. The boys had the best time and got to eat at Cookie Jar Cafe.
This weekend is the unofficial start of Spring Festival Season in Tennessee as we head off to historic Bell Buckle for their famous Daffodil Day sponsored by the Bell Buckle Chamber of Commerce.
Y’all go be Tennesseans this weekend and see what your great state has to offer. Spring is on its way!!!
