Attraction: The Lost Sea Adventure, Sweetwater
The warmest spot in Tennessee for the last few weeks wasn’t outside, it was underground The Lost Sea Adventure in Sweetwater, Tennessee. At a constant 58.5 degrees with almost 100 percent humidity, the boys and I felt down right balmy.
For thousands of years there has been activity in this cave system as it has been used by Native Americans, tourists and soldiers during the American Civil War to extract saltpeter for gunpowder.
As we traversed down the well maintained path to the Lost Sea, our guide was kind enough to dispel a number of rumors about rhetorical fish that inhabit the water. They are some big trout, that much I will say.
As a Tennessee family owned business, the Lost Sea Adventure offers an incredible natural destination less than an hour from the Chattanooga, that is fun for the family or for a solo trek. They are just completing a new building and entrance that looks to be almost open too!
Y’all go be Tennesseans this week and see what your great state has to offer!
