Around Town: Friends of Hixson

Happy Wednesday Y’all!

Today was the October meeting of the Friends of Hixson community organization at Clear Creek Church . This month we were fortunate to hear about zoning, zoning and more zoning as our community keeps growing, growing, growing.

According to Karen Rennich, Deputy Director at our local RPA and my good friend Nathan Janeway, Director of Hamilton County Government Development Services, our area is poised to add another 60,000 jobs in Hamilton County by 2040 which is leading us into some serious infrastructure questions on how we grow in the best way to support this new economic development.

It is not just where those jobs will go but where the housing will go in addition to the commercial services like barbershops, dry cleaners and restaurants that will support it. Capacity varies in different parts of our county and Hixson has more than Ooltewah in terms of sewer and waste water.

Truly an informative presentation that cleared up a lot of questions the assembled group came prepared to ask.

Y’all go be Tennesseans this week and learn about your great state!
