Outdoors: Laurel-Snow State Natural Area, Dayton

Happy Frozen Saturday Y’all!

On this icy weekend, it is easy to think about Winter never ending but just know that wildflowers will start blooming in under 75 days in Tennessee Natural Areas like Rhea County’s famous Laurel-Snow State Natural Area.

Less than 45 minutes from downtown Chattanooga Laurel-Snow SNA offers a bevy of trails for all experience levels.  For me, the pinnacle is always Laurel Falls instead of Snow Falls because it is harder to get to and forms the beginning of Richland Creek that eventually runs through the SNA and comes out in Downtown Dayton before flowing into the river.

It is the creek you pass over on US-27 before you get to Bryan College as a reference. Can’t wait until this snow melts and head up to see Monkey Town this week.

Y’all be safe Tennesseans today and watch out for ice!
