Eats: Dixie Freeze, South Pittsburg

While the Trimble clan hails from Hamilton County, my wife’s family have long been stalwarts of an incredible community just across the Marion County line into Alabama called Bridgeport.

Much of their family comes from a rural background until her incredible grandfather got into the foundry business with his best friend Grady Jacobs at Jacobs Manufacturing.

Tennessee is and was a foundry state. Places like Lodge Cast Iron and US Stove made the South Pittsburg economy boom and are still anchors of the community today.

While her grandfather passed a couple years back, we will stop through South Pittsburg from time to time to get a milkshake at Dixie Freeze or browse through Hammers.  She spent so much time here as a child and it has been nice to see folks still remember how much Bo meant to this community.
