Community: Senator Bill Hagerty and Hamilton County Sheriff Austin Garrett Talk Border Patrol
An eye opening experience for most of the crowd today as Senator Bill Hagerty and Hamilton County Sheriff Austin Garrett spoke about their visit to Eagle Pass, Texas earlier this week to assess the border situation.
Judge Russell Bean has always told me that America has two problems and until you solve those, any other fixes are merely band aids. One of those problems is the border.
Setting aside the immigration discussion other than to say legal immigration is one of the greatest things about America, let’s talk about the border from an addicts perspective. The sheer volume of fentanyl and presursor chemicals that are traveling across the border is astonishing and should alarm all Americans. Customs and Border Patrol simply can’t keep up. Fentanyl is the scourge of America and a dose the size of two grains of salt is more than enough to kill a grown man. Y’all the only reason I am not dead today is simply because fentanyl wasn’t as prevalent. Its a numbers game. Counterfeit prescription drugs are being pressed into tablet form after the ingredients have been shaking up in Mason jars. These pills are pressed by presses bought on Amazon. Its just that easy.
One dose might be normal or have no effect and the pill laying right next to it may kill you because there are no @fda chemists in the illegal drug business.
I applaud Senator Hagery and Hamilton County Sheriff Austin Garrett for their dedication to making our communities safer by tackling the issue head on. Along with help from Senator Marsha Blackburn, the State of Tennessee is leading the way yet again.
If you or someone you know needs help, reach out. We can solve the border problem and opioid epidemic but we have to do it together.
